Gracia left Cuba in 2016. He accepted his invitation to spring training in February 2017, as a non-roster player and signed with the St. Louis Cardinals. He played in 2017 for the Memphis Redbirds of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League and the Springfield Cardinals of the Class AA Texas League. Between the two teams, he had a batting average of 290, 15 home runs, and 65 RBIs.

He started his 2018 campaign in Memphis. On August 6, the Cardinals promoted him to the major leagues. He batted for Memphis in 112 games, 256 with 22 home runs, 71 RBIs, and ten stolen bases. He also batted 118 in 21 St. Louis games. The date of Garcia’s assignment was December 18, 2019.

On February 10, 2021, Garcia was given the position after Mike Foltynewicz’s contract was formally announced. He was outrighted on February 12th and then received an invitation to spring training as a non-roster invitee.

On April 13, 2021, Garcia’s name was added to the active roster after Ronald Guzman was placed on the injured list. He won American League Rookie of the Month in May 2021 after hitting 312 with a 633 slugging percentage and 11 home runs.

Garcia was selected to play as a reserve for the American League in the 2023 MLB All-Star Game for the second time in his career. However, he missed ten games after sustaining a patella tendon strain on September 8th in his right knee. In 148 games overall in 2023, Garcia hit 245/.328/.508/.836 with 39 home runs, 107 RBI, and 9 stolen bases.

Despite losing the division to the Houston Astros on the final day of play, the Rangers overcame the Rays and Orioles in 2023 to make it to the ALCS and take them on. In the final four games of the series, Garcia hit five home runs. In Game 5, Garcia hit a three-home run that won the game, putting Texas ahead.

Garcia was hit by another player and was given a fine after grabbing a fastball from Bryan Abreu in the bottom of the eighth inning. There was a bench-clearing incident as a result. Houston took the lead to 5–4. Despite striking out four times that day, he hit a grand slam in the top of the ninth inning of Texas’ Game 6 in Houston.

Garcia scored five runs and hit two home runs in Texas’ 11-4 victory in Game 7. In the series, Garcia recorded a postseason series record with 15 RBIs, gaining him the title of ALCS Most Valuable Player. With a walk-off home run in the eleventh inning of Game 1 of the 2023 World Series, García defeated Miguel Castro. The Arizona Diamondbacks were the opponents in this game. Garcia set a single postseason record with 22 RBI during the Rangers’ run.

Garcia missed the next two games of the series due to a strained right oblique that he had after Game 3. Texas and Garcia won the 2023 World Series in five games. He won his first-ever Gold Glove Award in 2023 while playing outfield for the American League.
