Richard Williams Net Worth 2022

Richard Williams

Fans who have always been interested in Richard Williams’ net worth are the dad of two of the most famous tennis players in history. You may learn more about Richard’s net worth from this article.

Early Years

On February 14, 1942, Richard Dove Williams Johnson was born near Shreveport, Louisiana. When Richard finished high school, he finally moved to California.

Children and Marriages

Richard and Betty Johnson met shortly after Richard relocated to California. In 1965, they got hitched. Before divorcing in 1973, Richard & Betty had 5 children together. Sabrina, Richard, Ronner, Reluss, and Reneeka were those kids. After Richard and Betty’s divorce, Katrina, a child from a previous relationship, assisted in raising the children.

Richard first met Oracene Price, sometimes known as “Brandy,” in 1979. Two girls were born to Brandy from a prior union with a deceased husband. In 1980, Brandy and Richard were hitched. Richard was a security guard, and Brandy was a nurse. Venus was born on June 17, 1980, and Serena was born around September 26, 1981. The couple subsequently had two children. Family members of Brandy and Richard were born in Compton, California. In the end, they were divorced in 2002. Next, Richard started dating a local grocery shop owner called Lakeisha Juanita Graham. Given that Lakeisha was just a year older than Venus, this caused some questions. In 2010, Richard and Lakeisha were hitched. In 2012, they had a son, and they were divorced in 2017.

Tennis

78 Richard was flipping channels at some time after relocating to Long Beach, California, and stumbled onto the French Open in 1978.  The women’s singles competition was finally won by Polish player Virginia Ruzici. Richard wasn’t very interested mostly in tennis, but the $40,000 first-place reward that Ruzici received drew his attention. That is equivalent to almost $170,000 in today’s money if inflation is taken into account.

Venus & Serena was becoming tennis stars, and Richard determined there and then. To turn his daughters into the top tennis athletes in the league, he even went so far as to draught an 85-page game plan. When his girls were little, in the 1980s, he started taking them to local sports facilities to play tennis. On occasion, they would rehearse from dawn till dusk. The family relocated from California to Saginaw, Michigan when Venus was born. They relocated to California once more in 1981, this time residing in Compton’s seedy area.

For the daughters to train away from the violence of Compton, the family relocated to Palm Beach, Florida, in 1991. A local coach called Rick Macci in Florida saw the girls’ promise and started to train them more seriously. When Venus was 14 years old, she entered the professional ranks. The year after, Serena turned professional. Together at the Australian Open in 1998, the sisters notably squared off during their first significant professional encounter. Serena was 16 and Venus was 17. Venus triumphed in a rout.

Somewhere at age of 18, Serena claimed the US Open in 1999. At the age of 20, Venus won Wimbledon in 2000. Richard may be heard yelling “Straight outta Compton!” from the stands as Venus won Wimbledon, an allusion to the song even by the rap group N.W.A., who was also from Compton. Venus & Serena Williams, as we are all aware, continued to regularly win major events and dominated the professional women’s tennis circuit for a couple of years.

Richard Williams Net Worth

So how much money is Richard Williams worth? According to Celebrity Net Worth, Richard has a $20 million net worth. Despite being a multi-millionaire, Richard’s wealth is still dwarfed by that of his daughter, Serena & Venus. Venus reportedly has a net worth of $95 million, including $42 million in prize money from the Women’s Tennis Association. Serena’s net worth is $210 million, with much more than $94 million coming from winnings. In addition, Serena got $55 million from Nike, with whom she had a five-year sponsorship agreement. In a 2021 interview with GQ, Serena discussed how their father was ahead of his time.

My father was and is much ahead of his time. You see, the initial response is frequently fear when somebody is different—when they don’t act or appear how a person would imagine they would. They ask themselves, How do we break them? My father was aware of that, but he refused to let himself nor his family suffer as a result. In 2021, Serena also spoke with Refinery29 on how without the support of their father, she & her sister Venus would not be the tennis superstars they are now. Without Richard, Venus and Serena wouldn’t exist, she claimed. He always thinks at a higher level. He continues to think five steps ahead of everyone even now. It was a terrific chance to share his tale because of the way dad pushed my sister and me while teaching us tennis fundamentals.
