Personal Life

Jobe Bellingham, the younger son of Denise and Mark Bellingham, was born on September 23, 2005, in Stourbridge, West Midlands. Mark, a sergeant with the West Midlands Police, scored a lot of goals while playing non-League football. Bellingham’s older brother, England footballer Jude Bellingham, joined Birmingham City’s academy before him, where the two would spend their formative years. Jude, who is 16 years old, played regularly for the first squad in the 2019–20 season before joining Borussia Dortmund in Germany. Jobe appeared in the unveiling of Birmingham’s 2020–21 season shirt after Jude left.

In the second half of Birmingham’s 2021–22 FA Cup third-round home game against League One club Plymouth Argyle, with the score still tied at 0-0 and Birmingham down to 10 men, he made his senior debut, stepping on to replace 17-year-old Jordan James. At the age of 16 years and 107 days, he made his debut as the second-youngest debutant in Birmingham.

Club Career

Bellingham was listed on the substitutes’ bench for Birmingham’s 2021–22 EFL Cup first-round match at home against League One’s Colchester United at the age of 15 years, 321 days. Like in the second round of the same competition, he was quiet. Still a few weeks away from turning 16, had he made his debut in either game, he would have broken the club record for the youngest-ever first-team player, which his brother had set in the first round two years earlier.

Later that year, there were reports that Jude Bellingham might move back to England, and there were rumours that Jobe might be interested in joining  Jude’s club, Borussia Dortmund. By the end of the year, he had played four times for Birmingham’s under-23 team in Premier League 2 Division 2 and had scored four goals in nine appearances for their under-18 team competing in the Under-18 Premier League.

In November, Bellingham was listed as a reserve for the EFL Championship game against Coventry City. Due to the frequent injuries among the team’s midfielders, manager Lee Bowyer requested that people not compare him to his brother’s achievements. He also noted that he was next in line for the position. He once again went unused. In Birmingham’s 2021–22 FA Cup third-round match at home against League One club Plymouth Argyle, he made his senior debut as a second-half substitute, coming in to replace 17-year-old Jordan James after 70 minutes with Birmingham down to ten men and the score still goalless.

He made his debut in Birmingham at the age of 16 years, 107 days. After the game, in which Birmingham lost 1-0, Bowyer claimed that his performance throughout the previous several weeks of training with the first team had won him his debut. A week later, he made his debut in the Football League as a late replacement in a 1-1 draw away to Preston North End. He didn’t play again until the season’s last game.

Birmingham announced in July 2022 that Bellingham will join the team on a scholarship and that terms for his first professional contract, which would begin on his 17th birthday, had been reached.

International Career

Bellingham was born in England, and according to reports, a paternal grandparent allows him to represent Ireland. On June 3, 2021, he started his first game for England’s under-16 team against Northern Ireland, winning 6-0. Three months later, in the Syrenka Cup match against Romania, he made his debut at the under-17 level. He marked the occasion by missing a penalty, but England still won 2-0. He also participated in the final, in which England lost to the Netherlands 3-2, as well as the other group game. He played in all three of England’s 2022 European Under-17 Championship qualifying round games in October. In a 7-0 victory against Armenia that helped England win their group and advance to the next round, he assisted Kobbie Mainoo’s goal.

Bellingham was selected for the England under-18 team for a four-team mini-tournament at the Pinatar Arena in Spain in September 2022 after making eight appearances for the under-17s. In England’s three victories over the Netherlands, Belgium, and the Faroe Islands, he started against each opponent and went on as a late substitute.
