Hasan Piker- Twitch Career and Controversies

Hasan Piker

Hasan Piker, popularly known as HasanAbi, is a Turkish-American Twitch streamer and liberal political spokesperson. He was born on July 25, 1991. He has previously held positions as a broadcast journalist, producer, and columnist at The Young Turks and HuffPost. He is one of the most popular and well-liked Twitch streams right now, covering news, playing a range of video games, and debating politics from a socialist standpoint. His lack of physical fitness and his scepticism toward Islam, he claims, led to bullying while he was attending a Turkish public school. Piker moved back to the country and enrolled at the University of Miami before transferring to Rutgers University, where he earned a double degree in political science and communication studies and graduated with honours in 2013.

Career

Piker worked as an intern for The Young Turks, a progressive news programme and network co-founded by his uncle Cenk Uygur, in 2013, his final year of college. The Breakdown, a TYT Network video series that appeared on Facebook in 2016 and offered left-leaning political commentary geared toward millennial Bernie Sanders supporters, was created and hosted by Piker. Twitch Career

In March 2018, Piker began streaming on Twitch while he was working at TYT. He became well-known as a left-wing political commentator and was asked to appear on Chapo Trap House and The Issue Is on Fox News. Controversies

On August 21, 2019, Piker slammed U.S. Representative Dan Crenshaw for supporting foreign military interventionism. Crenshaw was a member of SEAL Team 3 and served in Afghanistan. Piker said, “What the fuck is up with this dude? ” on Crenshaw. Didn’t he serve in the military and figuratively lose an eye after a heroic soldier among the mujahideen fucked his eye hole with their dick? His comments sparked outrage on social media, and Fox News and other media sites published them.

Piker bought a $2.7 million home in West Hollywood, California, in August 2021. People who felt that his extravagant lifestyle looked to be at odds with his socialist beliefs criticised the purchase online. In February 2022, after it was revealed that Piker had bought a Porsche Taycan, similar criticism was levied. The financial revenues of Piker and many other streamers were revealed in a massive information leak from Twitch, which led to criticism of Piker. repeatedly on stream, a term historically applied to poor, landless, rural white people of the American South and still seen by many as degrading and discriminatory.
